IMHANS Launches Booklet on "Substance Abuse Among Children: Prevention and Management"
As part of an intervention to increase awareness and promote healthy behaviors among adolescents, IMHANS (Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences), operating under the Health Department, has developed an information booklet titled "Substance Abuse Among Children: Prevention and Management."
Designed to be simple, attractive, and age-appropriate, the booklet aims to reach children effectively and educate them. It focuses on the key aspects of substance abuse, including the definitions and types of substances commonly used by adolescents, such as alcohol, tobacco, and other psychoactive drugs. It also highlights various risk factors that lead to substance use, including peer pressure, curiosity, emotional distress, and a lack of awareness.
The booklet provides detailed information on the physical, mental, social, and academic consequences of substance abuse, helping adolescents understand the long-term impact on their well-being. Emphasizing the concept that "prevention is better than cure," it encourages adolescents to make informed and healthy life choices.
This booklet serves as an educational and preventive tool aimed at empowering adolescents with the knowledge, awareness, and skills necessary to avoid substance use and lead a healthy life.
