Kerala Health System Improvement Programme to Enhance Health Services
The Health Department is implementing the Kerala Health System Improvement Programme (KHSIP) to strengthen the quality and resilience of health services in the state. Supported by financial assistance from the World Bank, the project aims to make the state’s health system better equipped to address emerging health challenges and improve the efficiency of services.
The programme has six key components: comprehensive care for non-communicable diseases, vision care services for senior citizens, integrated trauma and emergency care with 108 ambulance services, a state-level single health surveillance system, climate-resilient health facilities, and rapid digital health integration through digital health registries and data analytics.
The programme will document outcomes using clear and measurable indicators across all areas of implementation. It aims to ensure accountability, encourage collaboration across sectors, and build a sustainable health system that protects vulnerable families and strengthens resilience to future health challenges.
Through KHSIP, the state’s health system is expected to become stronger, more sustainable, and better equipped to address future health challenges.
