Neocradle Scheme; New step in neonatal care in Kerala
Kerala's Health sector is made a new innovative developement in the field of neonatal care.For the first time in the state, the Neo Cradil project has been launched in Kozhikode district for comprehensive neonatal care. The Neocradil project is a joint venture between the Department of Health and the District Administration to bring together primary, secondary and tertiary level health facilities. The target of this scheme is to offer the best specialist therapy to deal with the complex difficulties confronted by infants.The scheme aimed to diagnose and deal with issues of neonatal issues like hypothermia, hypoglycemia and hypoxia.
The key elements of the project are to coordinate the various health systems, strengthen the health infrastructure system and ensure expert treatment. So far, 25 government and private hospitals have registered with the Neocradile website. The main objective of the scheme is to reduce the neonatal mortality rate in the state. At the current scenerio five infant deaths per 1000 live births occur in the state. It is with the developed countries. The plan will go a long way in reducing neonatal mortality.
