Special Skin OP – AVABHASINI: A Comprehensive Initiative by the Department of Agadatantra
The Department of Agadatantra runs the Special Skin OPD AVABHASINI from Tuesday to Saturday since 2014–2015, providing diagnosis, treatment, procedures, and free medicines for various skin diseases. Supported by a fund of ₹6 lakhs, the OPD ensures accessible and continuous dermatological care.
From April 2025 to January 2026, a total of 3,391 patient visits were recorded, with an average monthly attendance of 339. Female patients (55%) outnumbered males (45%). Common conditions treated include Ekakushta (psoriasis), Vicharchika (dermatitis), Dadru (fungal infections), and allergic skin disorders, with higher case loads observed during mid-year months.
The initiative also strengthens academic and research activities by enabling systematic clinical documentation and enhancing postgraduate training. Free medicine distribution improves accessibility, compliance, and continuity of care.
Overall, the Skin OPD represents a consistent, patient-centered model integrating clinical service, education, and equitable healthcare delivery.
