Guardians of Life
Dr Sajni P
Paediatrician
Wayanad Medical College
Dr Sajini P, Paediatrician in the Health Services Department, has been selected as the 'Guardian of Life' in recognition of her exceptional clinical acumen, timely decision-making, and compassionate care that saved the life of a two-year-old child.
A heartfelt and widely shared letter of gratitude from Mr Johnson stands testimony to her dedication. His two-year-old son, Joshua, was brought to Wayanad Medical College with swelling in the leg. Dr Sajini promptly identified the symptoms as a snake bite—an assessment that proved critical. Without any delay, she initiated the correct line of treatment by administering antivenom, a decision that was truly lifesaving.
Recognising the seriousness of the condition and the need for advanced care, Dr Sajini then referred the child to Calicut Medical College. This timely referral reflected not only her medical expertise but also her deep concern for the child’s well-being.
In his letter, Mr Johnson recalls the frightening moments his family went through and acknowledges the care, reassurance, and confidence provided by Dr Sajini and the medical team at Wayanad Medical College. He notes that doctors at Calicut Medical College later confirmed that Dr Sajini’s prompt diagnosis and accurate decisions played a crucial role in saving his child’s life.
Dr Sajini’s actions exemplify the highest standards of medical professionalism—combining knowledge, decisiveness, and compassion. Her commitment and selfless service have given a family renewed hope and a child a second chance at life, making her truly deserving of the title - Guardian of Life.
