Achievement

As part of the Nava Kerala Karma Padhathi – Aardram Mission, construction work has been completed, and 87 more Family Health Centres (FHCs) have been made operational across the state. Primary Health Centres are being upgraded to Family Health Centres in a phased manner, with the provision of essential infrastructure and additional staff. With this, 750 primary health centres across Kerala have been converted into Family Health Centres.

OP services from 9 AM to 6 PM are a key feature of Family Health Centres. To make these facilities people-friendly, all centres are equipped with waiting rooms, OP registration counters, ramps for differently-abled and elderly individuals, examination rooms ensuring patient privacy, injection rooms, dressing rooms, observation rooms, nurses’ stations, pharmacies, laboratories, lab waiting areas, awareness TVs in waiting areas, airport-style chairs, direction boards, public address systems, and patient-friendly toilets. All FHCs are designed to be elderly-, women-, and differently-abled-friendly.

Development activities worth over Rs. 10,000 crore are currently underway in the health sector. To ensure comprehensive primary health care, 5,416 public health centres have been established, and 356 urban public health centres are operational in urban areas. Under the Aardram Mission, construction has been completed in 913 hospitals, and work is in progress in 90 hospitals. OP departments have been renovated in 14 district and general hospitals and 26 taluk hospitals. Additionally, 102 community health centres have been upgraded to block family health centres, and 13 community health centres have been strengthened.

As a result of these extensive developments, 290 health centres in the state have received NQAS (National Quality Assurance Standards) accreditation, including 9 district hospitals, 8 taluk hospitals, 14 community health centres, 47 urban family health centres, 172 family health centres, and 40 public health centres.
