 June 25, 2026 by admin 3 Comments

The statewide Pulse Polio Immunisation Drive will be held on June 28. Polio drops will be administered to nearly 19.8 lakh children below five years of age. A total of 22,288 vaccination booths will be set up across the state. Around 46,663 trained volunteers will assist in administering the polio drops. The booths will be located at easily accessible places such as government hospitals, health centres, primary health centres, urban health centres, anganwadis, private hospitals, libraries, schools and buildings of voluntary organisations.

To ensure maximum coverage, 539 transit booths, 283 mobile booths and nine special booths at festivals and fairs will also be arranged. Transit booths will function at railway stations, bus stands and boat jetties to vaccinate children who are travelling. Mobile booths will visit areas with large public gatherings, including guest worker accommodations, remote locations, festival venues and wedding halls.

Children who miss the vaccination on June 28 will be covered through house-to-house visits on June 29 and 30. The immunisation drive will be carried out by health workers along with ASHA, Anganwadi and Kudumbashree volunteers. The programme is being organised by the Health Department with the support of government agencies such as Arogyakeralam, the Local Self-Government Department, the Women and Child Development Department, the General Education Department, Kudumbashree Mission and the Literacy Mission. Voluntary organisations, including Rotary International, will also participate in the campaign.
