Cherthala Taluk Hospital: A Success Story from Basic Facilities to a Centre of Trust
The Cherthala Taluk Hospital, which once operated with limited facilities, has today become a centre of trust for the people with state-of-the-art treatment facilities. With the intervention of the state government, which is implementing comprehensive development activities in the health sector, this hospital has grown from an ordinary treatment center to a place that provides hope and security.
The new building, built at a cost of Rs 84 crore, has given a new face to the Cherthala Taluk Headquarters Hospital. But this was not just a building renovation; it also ensured state-of-the-art medical equipment and comprehensive treatment facilities. This has created a situation where high-quality treatment is easily available to the common man.
The new building has a 14-bed emergency department, triage system, and emergency operation theater. OP services are available in 13 departments including medicine, surgery, ortho, paediatrics, and gynecology. State-of-the-art lab, blood storage unit, radiology department, pharmacy, and audiology facilities also enhance the service quality of the hospital.
With a capacity of 270 beds, this hospital is equipped with IP wards, post-operative recovery units, and a state-of-the-art operation theater complex. In addition, safety and efficiency have been ensured through disinfection unit, isolation ward, separate lifts for patients and staff, uninterrupted power supply, solar power, CCTV, and fire safety systems.
This achievement is part of the revolutionary changes being implemented in the health sector in the state as part of the Aardram Mission. The aim is to provide health services to the grassroots level and also upgrade taluk hospitals into state-of-the-art treatment centers. The renovation of Cherthala Hospital is a strong example of this vision.
The hospital, which was previously seen as a mere treatment center, has today become a place of hope for the people. Along with better facilities, a more caring approach to patients makes this change more meaningful.
This hospital, which was started in 1907, also achieved the feat of becoming the first government taluk hospital in India to receive NABH accreditation in 2012. Now, with new infrastructure, this institution is moving forward by further raising the standard of health services.
This transformation of Cherthala Taluk Hospital is not just a development project; it clearly shows the government’s commitment to providing better healthcare for the people.
