Thiruvananthapuram RCC launches state-of-the-art facilities for early cancer detection

Thiruvananthapuram Regional Cancer Center (RCC) has implemented state of art facilities for the early detection and advanced treatment of cancer. A three-dimensional mammography unit and a 3 Tesla MRI unit were newly made available at the RCC at a cost of ₹ 22 crore. The three-dimensional mammography unit enhances the accuracy, clarity, and speed of breast cancer detection. Unlike a standard mammogram that captures two images, this new unit captures 15 images, significantly improving the precision of diagnosis. This innovative unit, the first of its kind in Kerala, also includes biopsy facilities for further evaluation.

The 3 Tesla MRI unit, known for its high precision, employs cutting-edge technology to swiftly capture and analyze a greater number of images compared to a regular MRI unit. This advanced system also features a breast coil designed for breast cancer detection, along with a specialized system for prostate cancer detection.
