Malabar Cancer Centre (Post Graduate Institute of Oncology Sciences & Research)[MCC(PGIOSR)], Thalassery is an autonomous institution under Health and Family Welfare Department, Government of Kerala, started with an aim to establish a comprehensive cancer centre, providing the much-required oncology care to the population of Northern region of Kerala and neighboring parts of Karnataka and Tamil Nadu states. The main objective of the centre is not only to provide comprehensive cancer care but also to develop as a Research and Training Centre of international standards. A society named Malabar Cancer Centre Society was registered under Societies Registration Act XXI of 1860 with the above aims, and clinical work in Malabar Cancer Centre started from March 2001 onwards. At present Malabar Cancer Centre has more than 350 bed strength.
The control and management of the Society are vested in the Governing Body consisting of 23 members with the Honorable Chief Minister of Kerala as the Chairman. The routine activities and functions of the Centre are supervised by the Executive Committee, with the Secretary, Department of Health and Family Welfare, Government of Kerala being the Chairperson of the Committee. The members in the Governing Body and Executive Committee are functioning by virtue of their official positions. MCC(PGIOSR) is providing a full spectrum of oncological care as an autonomous not-for-profit institution funded by the State Government and other sources. In 2022, the Government upgraded the centre as the Malabar Cancer Centre (Post Graduate Institute of Oncology Sciences & Research).
Institute of Nursing Sciences and Research (INSeR), was incepted in the year 2018 which resonates under Malabar Cancer Centre (Post Graduate Institute of Oncology Sciences and Research, an apex institution in Oncology. Institute of Nursing Sciences and Research (INSeR) is focused on moulding students in caring the sick and managing preventive, promotive and rehabilitative health aspects of clients. INSeR has been recognized by Indian Nursing Council, Kerala Nurses & Midwives Council, and is affiliated to Kerala University of Health Sciences (KUHS).

- BSc Nursing: The annual uptake includes 40 students and 8 supernumerary students (Under Prime Minister’s Special Scholarship Scheme). The duration of course is 4 years. The course is recognized by Indian Nursing Council, Kerala Nurses and Midwives Council and is affiliated to Kerala University of Health Sciences.
