Mission

The mission is to advance organ availability and transplantation by uniting and supporting our communities, including transplant and organ donation professionals, patients, and donor and recipient families and to further benefit patients through education, technology, and policy development.

Vision

The vision is to promote long, healthy and productive lives for persons with organ failure by promoting maximized organ supply, equitable organ allocation and accountability in transplantation through monitoring, evaluating and overseeing all transplant-related activities. The Society shall work collaboratively and respectfully, guided by consensus-building, sharing responsibility and demonstrating integrity and reliability through consistency and openness and to attain self-sufficiency in organ donation and transplantation, meeting our people's transplant needs with optimal care of organ donors and recipients consistent with international standards.

Kerala State Organ and Tissue Transplant Organization (K-SOTTO) is established by Government of Kerala as a charitable society under the Travancore-Kochi Literary, Scientific and Charitable Societies Act 1955, as an apex organization in Kerala to regulate the removal, storage and transplantation of human organs and tissues for therapeutic purposes and for the effective enforcement of The Transplantation of Human Organs and Tissues Act 1994 and rules thereunder. The focus area of operation of the society is the identification of potential donors, retrieval of organs from deceased donors, equitable allocation of organs, create protocols and standard operating procedures to work in tandem with various transplant centers and Non-Transplant Organ Retrieval centers in the private and public sector. 

The Organization is entrusted to make lifesaving transplants possible for patients in need. We leverage data and advances in science and technology to continuously strengthen the system, increase the number of organs recovered and the number of transplants performed, and ensure patients across the state have equitable access to transplants, striving towards to meet the demands of the end stage organ failure to have a fresh lease of life. The governing body chaired by the Hon’ble Minister for Health and Family Welfare and Women – Child Development guides the organization in formulating policies and the Executive Committee chaired by the Principal Secretary, Health and Family Welfare mentors the organization in day-to-day affairs.

Authorized Hospitals for Organ and Tissue Transplantation

Kerala State Organ and Tissue Transplant Organization (K-SOTTO) works in collaboration with hospitals across the state that are officially authorized by the Government of Kerala to conduct organ and tissue transplantation. These hospitals are licensed under the Transplantation of Human Organs and Tissues Act (THOTA) and comply with strict medical, ethical, and legal standards. The network of authorized hospitals ensures safe, transparent, and efficient transplant procedures, thereby supporting patients in need of life-saving organ or tissue transplants while upholding the highest standards of care and accountability.

Procedure for patient registration to receive an organ :

Patients can register for an organ through the hospital where they wish to undergo transplant surgery, or through the hospital where they are currently receiving treatment. 
Registration must be completed through the Transplant Coordinator of the hospital. 
Patients cannot register directly on the K-SOTTO Website.

The list of licensed hospitals authorized to perform organ transplant surgeries is available on the K-SOTTO Approved Hospitals. 
Patients can change hospitals without losing their position on the priority list. To do so, they need to submit a request at the hospital where they are currently receiving treatment. 
There are no Fees for Registration and Organ Allocation through K-SOTTO.

  • You can register by visiting the K-SOTTO Website and clicking on 'Be an Organ Donor' or by scanning the QR code below. 
  • When you open the link, a “Register to Pledge” window will appear. You can register by entering your Aadhaar number (which must be linked with your mobile number).
  • Once you enter the Aadhaar number, an OTP will be sent to your mobile phone. By entering the OTP and your mobile number, the registration window will open. 
  • You can then proceed with the registration process. 
  • After successful registration, you will receive a certificate containing your registration details. This can be downloaded and kept for your records. 
  • It is very important to inform your family/relatives about your registration. 
  • Your registration details will be kept strictly confidential and will not be shared with anyone else.
