Mission

KSIHFW conducts various offline and online training programs under plan scheme training and NHM Trainings- State Skills Lab Trainings

  • To enhance the skills and knowledge of healthcare professionals by disseminating knowledge
  • To develop managerial skills, organizational capability, leadership, and decision-making abilities
  • To support health services in implementing various initiatives and improving healthcare outcomes

Kerala State Institute of Health and Family Welfare (KSIHFW) is the Primary training institution under the Kerala Health Services, delivering a wide of training programmes for different categories of healthcare staff. The trainings are conducted in Offline and Online modes using the State Plan Fund & NHM Fund. These training programmes encompass Induction, In-service, Skill Development, Supervisory and Administrative and Management, Orientation, Computer Software, and various specialized trainings for all healthcare personnel and State TOTs. The institute is committed to equipping health personnel with the most recent techniques, developments, and trends in health and family welfare.

To address the diverse needs of health personnel in the medical and non-medical domains, KSIHFW regularly conducts Physical training and utilizes various available training modes for dissemination. Moreover, to enhance accessibility to training content, the institute designs and conducts training through an online Learning Management system. It also continuously develops and updates training resource materials and modules to bolster its training programmes.

The Kerala Skills lab Module (Mathrushishu Kavacham), redesigned according to the Kerala scenario with the joint effort of experts in Gynecology, Pediatrics, Anesthesia, KSIHFW, and State Skills lab Faculties, was released by the Hon'ble Minister of Health, Women and Child Development, Smt. Veena George on 16/01/2023. Based on this, State TOT training is ongoing for Gynecologists and Nursing Officers.
 

The KSIFW is located near Thiruvananthapuram KSRTC Bus Stand and Railway Station (Around 0.3 KM), is situated behind Govt. W&C Hospital, Thycaud, Thiruvanathapuram.

The institute has a total land area of 2.185 Acres and is equipped with state of art infrastructure facilities comprising of:

a) Main Conference Hall - 1 No

b) Mini Conference Hall - 1 No

c) Lecture Halls - 4 Nos

d) Video Conference Hall - 1 No

e) Computer Lab-1Nos

f) Skills lab (Lecture Hal 1, Skill Station, Faculty Room, Staff Room)

g) Dining Hall

h) Accommodation Facility-Hostel Rooms

i) Recreation facility- (Library, Gymnasium, Badminton court)

j) Other facilities-Office Rooms, Faculty Rooms, Lift, Parking, Reception, Solar Energy system, Incinerator.
