Mission
The mission of the university is to produce healthcare professionals and biomedical knowledge within a humanistic tradition. This endeavour focuses on extending the quality of life in communities for present and future generations. The University is committed to delivering high quality education, encouraging research, and fostering stakeholder participation and community engagement. This involves maintaining an efficient and transparent administrative mechanism responsive to the diverse needs of stakeholders, including students, parents, staff, affiliated colleges, and the public. Additionally, the university actively promotes community involvement through health awareness and promotion programs.
Vision
The university aspires to create a distinctive learning environment capable of meeting challenges in Kerala's healthcare sector. It aims to educate students on ethics and values, developing professionals rooted in both scientific excellence and ancient wisdom. Through research, incorporation of traditional knowledge, and engagement with societies, the university seeks to enhance healthcare practices, ad-dressing local and regional health issues.
The Kerala University of Health Sciences (KUHS) was established in 2010 by an Act of the Kerala Legislative Assembly to promote systematic instruction and research in both modern and traditional medicine, ensuring excellence in medical education throughout Kerala and is located at Thrissur.
Objectives:
- Design innovative courses and curriculum aligned with advancements in health sciences.
- Regulate standards of affiliated colleges and institutions.
- Organize programs addressing societal health issues.
- Provide leadership in medical human resource development and state health planning.
- Emphasize epidemiological studies, disease monitoring, and surveillance systems.
- Facilitate dialogue between different healthcare systems.
- Foster joint research programs and integration between diverse medical systems.
- Promote equitable distribution of educational facilities in health and allied sciences.
- Establish an educational network using modern communication media for continuous knowledge upgrading.
