Janani Shishu Suraksha Karikrama (JSSK)
The Ammayam Kunjum project is a government-funded healthcare scheme designed to provide free medical services to pregnant women and newborns up to 30 days old. Beneficiaries of this scheme include all pregnant women and their newborns who seek treatment at government hospitals. The services offered are recognized as fundamental rights for both mother and child.
Rights of Pregnant Women:
- Free maternity care, including caesarean sections.
- Free diagnostic tests and medications.
- Free accommodation and meals for 3 days following a normal delivery and 7 days after a caesarean section (excluding any charges if a pay ward is used).
- Free blood donation services.
- Free transportation to the hospital for delivery and back home afterward.
- Waiver of all hospital charges, including outpatient ticket fees.
- Free medical care up to 42 days post-delivery.
- Rights for Newborn Babies (Up to 30 Days Old)
- Free medications, examinations, and treatment.
- Free transportation to the hospital and, if necessary, to a referral hospital and back home.
