The fourth Ayurveda Medical College in Kerala's government sector is becoming a reality in Idukki district. Foundation stone laid for the hospital's O.P.D. complex and outpatient services already operational in a community hall freely provided by Udumbanchola Grama Panchayat. Utilizing 10 crore rupees from the Idukki Development Package, with financial support from the National AYUSH Mission, 66 construction activities have been completed, along with 7 additional projects funded jointly by the Bharatiya Chikitsa Department and the Homeopathy Department.

The college, established on 20.85 acres identified in 2021 following recommendations by the Planning Board's Ayush working group, will admit 100 students annually across eight specialties—Swasthavritta, Kayachikitsa, Shalyatantra, Shalakya Tantra (Netram and K.N.M.), Prasutitantra Streeroga, Kaumarabhritya, Panchakarma, and Vishachikitsa—with the first phase launching Prasutitantra, Shalyatantra, and Kayachikitsa in a 50-bed hospital approved by NCISM. Beyond medical education, the initiative promises significant advancements in preventive care, research, and Ayurvedic herb cultivation, while leveraging Idukki's tourism appeal and proximity to Tamil Nadu to attract patients from neighbouring regions, marking a comprehensive leap forward in the state's holistic healthcare landscape
