ASHA becomes Valliyamma’s Lifeline

During her routine field visit in Varandarappilly Panchayath Ward 5, Thrissur district, ASHA Mini Davis saw a heartbreaking scene. At 75 years old, Valliyamma was found lying helpless near her bathroom, unclothed and suffering from a severe medical condition with her uterus protruding outside.

Despite the lack of cooperation from her family members, Mini did not hesitate. She immediately alerted the ward members and the Junior Public Health Nurse (JPHN). Thanks to her swift response, Valliyamma was quickly transported to Taluk Hospital, Pudukad, where she could receive urgent medical care.

Mini’s timely intervention turned what could have been a tragedy into a story of compassion and courage—showing how frontline health workers often become true saviours in moments of crisis.
