The new academic initiative has added to the medical sector in Kerala aimed to expand the medical service delivery system in the state. Two new Government Nursing Colleges will start functioning in the state. The colleges are affiliated with Kollam and Mancheri Government Medical Colleges.

Through this initiative, more nurse services will be created in the state and more people will be available for patient care at Kollam and Mancheri Medical Colleges.

Adequate land and temporary building are allotted for start nursing colleges in both the medical colleges. The health department has made necessary arrangements to start the classes in the academic year 2022-23. As part of this, 36 posts will be created. 18 posts will be created for each nursing college namely Principal, Professor, Assistant Professor, Administrative Assistant, Senior Superintendent, Senior Clerk, Clerk, Office Attendant, Librarian Grade One, House Keeper, Full-Time Sweeper, Driver Cum Attendant and Watchman.
