April 01, 2025 National Health Mission (NHM) 3 Comments

The Mathruyanam scheme, which facilitates the transportation of the mother and baby home free of cost  after delivery, has been successfully implemented in all government hospitals where deliveries take place. The scheme is now operational in 101 government hospitals, including 9 medical colleges, 41 district general, women, and children hospitals, 50 taluk hospitals, and one community health center.

Under this initiative, all families, regardless of APL,BPL status, will benefit from the scheme. The project underwent a trial run before full implementation. Recognizing the financial burden associated with the journey home after delivery, this project serves as a cost-effective solution. Hospitals have been instructed to ensure the provision of this service to every individual after delivery.
