Under the Karunya Arogya Suraksha Padhathi, free treatment worth ₹3030 crore has been provided to 12,22,241 beneficiaries through 28,75,455 claims in the past 2 years. Kerala accounts for approximately 15% of the total treatment provided in India. Kerala was awarded the 2022 Health Excellence Award for delivering the highest amount of free treatment in the country.

Eligible families under the Karunya Arogya Sukkarta scheme can avail treatment benefits of up to ₹5 lakh per year from 761 hospitals enlisted in the program.

In the financial year 2021-22, free medical assistance was extended to 5,76,955 beneficiaries, while in FY22-23, the number increased to 6,45,286 beneficiaries. During the previous financial year, ₹1400 crore was allocated, whereas ₹1630 crore has been allocated for the ongoing financial year. The state receives an annual central share of only ₹138 crore for this purpose. The scheme has a total of 42 lakh registered families, out of which only 21.5 lakh families receive central assistance in a 60:40 ratio. From this, the scheme receives only ₹138 crore as central allocation per year, calculated at ₹631.2 per family, which constitutes 60% of the premium set at ₹1052 per family. The state government bears approximately 90% of the treatment costs.
