Kozhikode Medical College successfully completed the BCI 602 Bone Bridge surgery for the first time in the country at a government level. The surgery was done under the government's free scheme. BCI 602 Bone Bridge Surgery is a state-of-the-art procedure that can correct congenital hearing loss. This surgery, which is rarely done in the country, was successfully completed on three congenitally hearing-impaired individuals at Kozhikode Medical College. The surgery was performed on patients aged 8, 20, and 23, respectively.
Each implant costs around 6 lakh rupees. The BCI 602 Bone Bridge implant uses direct sound amplification technology, making it possible to overcome disorders in the outer ear and middle ear. KMSCL provided the bone conduction implantable hearing device required for the surgery.
