Kerala's groundbreaking in Medical education: First PG Seats in Nuclear Medicine

Post Graduation seats in Nuclear Medicine have been allotted for the first time in the state. The seats have been allotted to Kozhikode Medical College. This is the first time in the country that PG studies in Nuclear Medicine will be possible in state medical colleges. Also, PG seats in Radiation Oncology have been allotted to the Malabar Cancer Centre.

The National Medical Commission has granted approval for 81 new medical PG seats to Kerala this year. Alappuzha Medical College: 17, Ernakulam Medical College: 15, Kannur Medical College: 15, Kollam Medical College: 30, Kozhikode Medical College: 2, Malabar Cancer Centre (MCC): 2.

270 faculty positions were created for medical colleges. It is on this basis that the PG seats have been made available. Procedures have been initiated to allot PG seats in the Infectious Disease department and Critical Care department at Thiruvananthapuram Medical College. The PG seats in Nuclear Medicine and Radiation Oncology will further strengthen Kerala's cancer treatment sector.
