Arogyam Anandam Vibe 4 Wellness, A Public Participatory Campaign for a Healthier Nava Kerala
The Arogyam Anandam – Vibe 4 Wellness campaign has been launched by the Health Department to encourage a healthier lifestyle among the people of Kerala and to prevent the rise of lifestyle diseases. The campaign will officially begin on January 1, 2026. As part of the pre-launch activities, an awareness rally that started from Kasaragod on December 26 will travel through various districts and conclude in Thiruvananthapuram on January 1.
The project focuses on four key lifestyle factors: healthy eating, age-appropriate exercise, adequate sleep, and proper health care. The campaign aims to promote daily habits such as reducing salt, sugar, and oil intake, exercising for at least 30 minutes, ensuring sufficient sleep, and avoiding smoking and alcohol. A notable highlight of the project is that around one million new people across the state will adopt an exercise routine on the inaugural day itself.
This major initiative, being implemented as part of Aardram Mission II, involves the collaboration of several departments including AYUSH, Education, Sports, Local Self-Government, Youth Welfare, Women and Child Development, along with the Health Department. As part of the campaign, 10,000 yoga clubs led by the AYUSH Department and health clubs functioning in public health centers will actively participate. Special awareness activities are planned to involve a wide range of groups, from school and college students to adults, and from hotels to fitness clubs. District-level events such as bicycle rallies, group runs, Zumba sessions, yoga training, and food fairs will be organised.
The Health Department is implementing 10 key projects under Aardram Mission II, and prevention of lifestyle diseases is one of the most crucial components. Annual health checkups conducted in two phases under the Aardram Health Campaign revealed a high incidence of hypertension and diabetes among people above the age of 30, which underscores the need for this lifestyle health initiative.
More than 20 lakh individuals have already been screened through the large-scale cancer prevention campaign Arogyam Anandam – Akattaam Arbudam, launched on February 4, 2025 and implemented in two phases. The upcoming Arogyam Anandam – Vibe 4 Wellness campaign marks the next phase, shifting the focus toward wellness and healthier daily habits. The Health Department aims to involve the entire population in this mission, with the belief that a healthier society can be achieved by improving individual lifestyle practices.
