Special Clinics for Women in All Public Health Centres of Kerala
Kerala has launched special women’s wellness clinics (STHREE – StrengThening HeR to Empower Everyone) at all public health centres across the state, ensuring comprehensive healthcare and convenient access to treatment for women. This initiative marks the first time a state in India has introduced clinics exclusively for women.
The clinics will operate every Tuesday and offer screenings for anaemia, diabetes, hypertension, cancer, and other health conditions. They are designed to provide clinic services, neighbourhood screening camps, and specialist consultations for women and children, anchored at community health centres, which serve as vital pillars of public health.
Under the theme “Healthy Women, Strong Society,” the Health Department is organising a Women’s Campaign from September 16, 2025, to March 8, 2026, with the women’s clinics forming the first phase. The campaign will also include neighbourhood screening camps, expert examination sessions, referral-based follow-up treatment, and awareness programs.
By prioritising women’s health, these dedicated wellness clinics aim to improve both the accessibility and quality of healthcare services, while also contributing to the comprehensive empowerment of women. Being the first model of its kind in India, this initiative marks another milestone that positions Kerala at the forefront of public health in the country.
