Thrissur Medical College launches state-of-the-art imaging center for emergency care
Thrissur Medical College boasts a modern imaging centre within its emergency department, which seamlessly coordinates various testing systems to offer top-notch treatment to patients. At an expenditure of ₹6.48 crore, the facility has been equipped with a 128-slice CT scan, ultrasound scanning, and digital X-ray capabilities, all situated in the trauma care block.
The distinguishing feature of the 128-slice CT scanner is its ability to scan any part of the body, from head to toe, and deliver results within just 20 minutes. This cutting-edge machine was installed at a cost of ₹4.78 crore. The new scanner can perform a wide range of procedures with remarkable speed and precision, including coronary angiography, coronary plaque characterization, vessel analysis, neurology DSA, virtual endoscopy, and CT angiogram.
Digital X-ray technology has been implemented at an expense of ₹1.7 crore, allowing doctors to view X-ray images digitally on a computer screen. Furthermore, a specialized ultrasound machine has been made available for patients in the emergency department. With the introduction of the new PAX system, scan results, X-rays, and other diagnostic data can be accessed by doctors from any part of the hospital through computer terminals.
The establishment of a PRO service and a control room is aimed at providing comprehensive patient assistance. A security system, inclusive of CCTV surveillance, has also been put in place to enhance the overall safety of the hospital. Once all these components are fully operational, the hospital will offer even better facilities and services to patients.
